CELPIP READING PRACTICE

CELPIP Reading practice built around the published task types.

Build the habit of locating precise evidence, connecting ideas across paragraphs, applying written information to diagrams and separating an author’s position from quoted viewpoints.

No account needed for the sample. A free account includes 5 exercises per skill and one full mock. All published practice and mocks: CA$5/month in CAD.

Independent preparation, not official CELPIP material. Studio uses original curated practice designed around the published CELPIP-General format.

Reading practice: apply every condition

Original notice: Choose a Saturday workshop for a complete beginner who is free only after noon and can spend no more than $25. Equipment rental, when required, is included in the prices below.

Saturday workshops at Lakeside Centre

Woodworking1:00–3:00 p.m.$30None

Which workshop meets all three requirements?

Show the answer and evidence

Phone photography. It starts after noon, costs exactly the $25 maximum and requires no experience. Pottery fails the time requirement; cycling fails the experience requirement; woodworking exceeds the budget. A tempting answer often satisfies two conditions while breaking the third.

Before selecting an answer, list the conditions separately. Then eliminate any option that breaks even one of them. This short table is a teaching example; full Reading practice includes more developed sources and questions.

Original CELPIP Studio teaching material. Independent preparation; not an official test question.

What you can practise

The published Reading section contains 4 task types. Studio keeps those task purposes visible so you can train the skill behind the question instead of memorizing a template.

Practise, review the evidence, then add time pressure

Review the sentence, condition or relationship that proves the answer. That makes errors reusable: you can tell whether the problem was vocabulary, inference, detail tracking or a missed constraint.

Move from focused task practice to a timed Reading Skill Mock when you can justify answers from the passage instead of relying on topic familiarity.

How to use this page as a study sequence

  1. Read the guide for one task type and identify the decision the task is testing.
  2. Complete a focused original practice activity and review the evidence behind your result.
  3. Repeat the same skill with a new topic so the improvement transfers beyond one prompt.
  4. Use a timed Skill Mock to check whether the habit still holds under pressure.

Current Studio simulations use approximately 55 minutes for the Reading section. Official timing ranges and rules can change, so check the official CELPIP test format before test day.
