CELPIP LISTENING PRACTICE
CELPIP Listening practice built around the published task types.
Train the listening decisions the test asks you to make: follow changing plans, identify purpose and detail, compare viewpoints and recognize what a speaker implies.
No account needed for the sample. A free account includes 5 exercises per skill and one full mock. All published practice and mocks: CA$5/month in CAD.

Listening practice: track a changed plan
This transcript drill isolates one listening skill: noticing which proposal becomes the final decision. For audio, open the free Listening sample above.
Asha: I booked the large meeting room for our workshop on Thursday at two.
Ben: The projector there is being repaired. The small room is free at two, but it only seats eight and we have twelve people.
Asha: Could we use the training room instead?
Ben: Yes, but it is occupied until three.
Asha: Then let’s use that room at three. I’ll tell everyone about the change.
Where and when will the workshop take place?
- Large meeting room at 2:00 p.m.
- Small room at 2:00 p.m.
- Training room at 3:00 p.m.
- Training room at 2:00 p.m.
Show the answer and evidence
C: Training room at 3:00 p.m. The large room has an equipment problem. The small room cannot hold the group. The training room becomes available at three, and Asha explicitly accepts it. Hearing a time or room name is not enough; track whether it is proposed, rejected or agreed.

What you can practise
The published Listening section contains 6 task types. Studio keeps those task purposes visible so you can train the skill behind the question instead of memorizing a template.

Identify the problem, constraints and agreed solution.
Read the concise task guide →TASK 2

Read the concise task guide →TASK 3

Read the concise task guide →TASK 4

Read the concise task guide →TASK 5
Listening to a Discussion
Distinguish several speakers and their attitudes.
Read the concise task guide →TASK 6
Listening to Viewpoints
Understand a longer argument and its implications.
Read the concise task guide →Practise, review the evidence, then add time pressure
After each receptive task, review the exact evidence for the correct answer and why a distractor fails. The goal is not only to know the answer, but to recognize the listening signal you missed.
Use focused practice first, then switch to a timed Skill Mock when you want one-playback exam conditions without hints or explanations during the attempt.
How to use this page as a study sequence
- Read the guide for one task type and identify the decision the task is testing.
- Complete a focused original practice activity and review the evidence behind your result.
- Repeat the same skill with a new topic so the improvement transfers beyond one prompt.
- Use a timed Skill Mock to check whether the habit still holds under pressure.
Current Studio simulations use approximately 47 minutes for the Listening section. Official timing ranges and rules can change, so check the official CELPIP test format before test day.
